We were visiting the Morgan Library on a late Sunday afternoon, and this restaurant was close by and on my list. I've always been into old school Korean places where the food was centered around non BBQ items such as bossam and kimchi jigae. Like many Korean restaurants, they serve rice out of those stone pots. The rice gets crispy after letting it sit there. They also pour I think rice water into it, so you can finish off your meal with something that has the same effect as tea.

Service was pretty fast, and there was nothing super alarmed about. The restaurant was pretty full in the early dinner hours on a Sunday.

Very popular traditional Korean restaurant a couple of blocks north from the insanity and mediocrity of commercial Koreatown.

We got here on a Friday evening at 6p and we only had to wait in line for 15 minutes. Come here later and you'll be amazed by the length of the line. No... you can't make reservations.

The interior is interesting, and the service fast but professional... these guys don't joke.

Fried chicken: crispy to perfection and plenty. They could marinate the chicken in something that would make it more interesting, though... plain flavor. The sauce that comes with it is underwhelming.

Seafood and scallion pancake: flavorful and filling.

Soy sauce marinated pork bulgogi: very good. Don't forget to scrape the surface of the hot dish... that's were the flavor is delicious.

Bokbunja-raspberry pork belly: another great dish. The meat is like candy!

Overall, considering how hard is to find good traditional Korean food in New York (compared with LA), this place is solid. I need to return and taste other dishes in order to get a more accurate idea, but what I had was very good, especially the small dishes that accompany the entrees. Usually, they suck. Here, they were good and plenty (you can ask for seconds as much as you want).

    Recommended.

We waited 35 min and got seated a little after 8pm on Saturday (the lady at the front was actually really accurate about the wait time).

They serve their house made tofu (soo good) alongside some side dishes in the beginning.

We ordered the spicy raspberry pork belly, spicy seafood ddukbokki, and kimchi tofu stew with beef to share amongst 3 ppl, which was a good amount.
The seafood ddukbokki came out first and it was WAY spicier than we anticipated. All I can remember is that it was spicy. The other two dishes also were the same color but were much more mild & enjoyable. The beef in the kimchi stew was surprisingly really juicy and chewy.

If you're not good with spicy, skip the ddukbokki!

We went there Thursday's night after a friend recommended this place. The line wasn't long. We waited for 15 mins. The food and side dishes are pretty quick.

Their side dishes are amazing. I love the fresh tofu the most.

We ordered soon do boo and bulgogi jim. Both were amazing and worth the price.

I will def go back again and bring other friends.

I've been here several times, and have enjoyed myself thoroughly. I really appreciate that they make the tofu in house. When seated, the host immediately brought us their fresh tofu as a sampler after ordering. I had the kimchi biji and chunggukjang jjigae. The food is very warm and pleasant. It's very homey food in a comfortable setting. Their banchan is also always very fresh and delicious.
